The story was pretty good. I loved the romance between Kane and Rachel and the suspense with the stalker was creepy... gross and creepy...like it should be.

However, I found myself cringing as I would read the parts with Rachel's oldest daughter, 14 year old Lark, which happened to be quite a lot. That girl was a piece of work!! Throughout the whole book she made nothing but snarky, sarcastic comments towards her mother and all her acting out was clearly to push her mother's buttons....i have a 14 year old and every child grieves loss and change differently. I get that. I just dont know if i could be as collected as Rachel was if my teenager acted out this way... and poor Rachel...I didn't like the way her ex-mother-in-law and her daughter seem to gang up on her about the divorce and death of the husband...it was too much for me....I was hoping that Rachel would actually let go just once and really let them have a piece of her mind. Either that or just break down and cry buckets because to me, dealing with them was downright infuriating!!

Kane was just awesome...open and honest with Rachel and amazing with her kids...all in all, it was a really good story....

This is my first time reading Jannine Gallant it won't be my last! The mystery was good and it led me to the right person, despite a couple of red herrings. The dialogue with the older daughter was believable and now I'm definitely ready to begin book 2 of the three book series! YAY! A new author for me to enjoy!
I finished the book because I really wanted it to reveal some depth/life and deserve a 4 star rating. While the writing is flat, it hints at a potential for greatness. Right now, the characters are 1 dimensional, the plot falls way short of the “engaging romance/mystery stage”, and the writing is just too flat in too many places. However, in the very few moments when the writing deviates from norm... it shows a future potential for a Nora Roberts type analogy. I have noted this author and will revisit in a couple of years.
Rachel Carpenter, former soap star, now mother of three vivacious daughters is struggling. After her ex-husband died in an accident, her oldest who is 14 has been acting out. Her latest act of defiance has Rachel deciding to take a vacation at a wilderness camp for a week. Rachel could say her only reason for going is to take care of her girls, but after meeting Kane Lafferty, who told her about the camp, Rachel's interest is peaked.

For Rachel her priority is the girls, Kane understands this but is not sure he is any shape for a relationship. As a cop grappling with his own baggage he feels something strong for Rachel and her girls. As they begin to explore their feelings for one another everything shifts when it becomes clear Rachel has a stalker who will stop at nothing to get to her.

I have always been a fan of Jannine Gallant and this is another fantastic read. The oldest daughter, Lark, was a pill but i could so see her as a teen trying to find her way. Loved the kids, they were a huge part of the story and liked that Rachel and Kane make them their focus as well. One to definitely pick up
Recently I picked up the first in a new trilogy, and I couldn’t stop reading it. When the second book came out, I grabbed that, too...and I couldn’t put it down. Now the third in the series is up for presale and, you guessed it, I’ve already ordered.
I’m talking about the Who's Watching Now trilogy by Jannine Gallant. The first, EVERY MOVE SHE MAKES, features former soap star Rachel Carpenter who quit acting to marry a raise a family. Now a widow, the bookstore owner and mother of three wonderful, beautiful—challenging—daughters wants only to take a nice, calm family vacation before school starts for the year. A week hiking the trails of a wilderness camp in the High Sierra sounds perfect to the stressed-out mom, until a crazed fan from her acting days follows, and puts her and her family in his bulls-eye. Luckily for Rachel and her daughters, San Francisco Police Detective Kane Lafferty is on hand. Although he’s battling his own demons, and in desperate need of peace and relaxation, he is up to the challenge. Sparks fly, danger lurks, and Rachel and Kane (and the reader) are in for a ride.
Racheal is the now single mother of three girls living in a small town in wine country of California and is owner of a coffee shop/bookstore. She once played a female siren on a soap until her character Jordan was killed off. Unknown to her she has had an obsessed stalker for years. After the accidental death of her ex husband her fourteen year has been acting out and after her latest episode Racheal decides the girls and her need a vacation and family time. While having lunch with her sister and her man of the month and his friend she is introduced to Kane, an SFPD cop on extended leave after losing his partner and taking down a 16 year old kid. He tells her he is leaving for his brothers wilderness camp and suggests she look into it as a vacation spot for her and her girls which she does. Racheal and Kane get to spend time getting to know each other and explore their attraction which drives her stalker over the edge.
I really liked this book! It dealt with the real life issues of what it is like to bring a man into your life when you have children. Kane is a definite hottie and Rachel is a confident heroine who has her head put together. There are a lot of likely suspects to make you wonder who did it and the story is paced well. The portions from the bad guy's point of view were well-written and chilling. Lark, Rachel's teenaged daughter, is appropriately a pain in the derriere. Having had a similar problem when my mom remarried, I could identify. The ending was well-done, a real nail-biter. AND she used song lyrics in the title! Clever! And for a woman who loves her rock and roll, it really drew me to it! Good job, Ms. Gallant!
